Saving Monarchs

Monarch butterflies are under attack from wasps, which eat the tiny eggs. To help save the Monarchs, we are encouraged to put the eggs, and caterpillars if we can find them, into cages where they can safely grow, form their chrysalis and hatch. I released 18 Monarchs recently and am searching for more caterpillars for the next "crop."

Super fishing

Friends Gary and Sue Price visited last weekend. While the girls and Major went for a walk on the beach, Gary was busy hauling in these gorgeous snappers from the sea below the house. He generously gave most of it to the house. Note the serious swell he negotiated while fishing off the rocks.

Great camping at the beach at "Headlands"

Friends and I camped Saturday night at our beach. Upper left is Major cooling off in the stream and the gang relaxing in the shade.
Above is Mark with his travally. Left is Major, me, Max and Bernard at my tent.
Our camp site, complete with tents for Rhys, Mark and Julia, Judy and her son Bernard and niece Katharine. The "gator" was great for transporting provisions and people. The "Headlands" beach on a rising tide. Lots of lovely tidal pools to explore.
